Internship & Placement

Eight weeks of summer practical training (3rd year of B.Tech, BS course , 4th year of Dual Degree, MS, B.Arch course, 1st year of M.Tech /PG courses, 2nd year LLB students) is a compulsory part of the curriculum at IIT Kharagpur, carrying 2/4 credits. All efforts are made to place the concerned students in the best organizations in India and abroad for summer training through Career Development Centre and various departmental supports.

Guidelines for the Eligible students

For the Self Arranging students :

  • A student can opt for either CDC track or Self Arranged track and the same needs to be conveyed to the CDC during the time of registration
  • For the self arranged category of students, it is strictly advised not to contact any companies which have already recruited interns from the campus.
  • Students are free to apply for Foreign Training in any of the listed Universities that signed MoU with the Institute and only the Universities that notified vacancies through an advertisement.
  • It is advisable not to contact any other University that doesn't fall under any of the afore mentioned classes.
For the CDC opted students :
  • CDC notifies the students about any vacancy available through ERP. So, students are strictly recommended to keep checking their ERP for any updates related to internships.
  • The student will be confirming participation in the Company's Selection process by uploading his Resume against the company's advertisement in the ERP.
  • As the Student confirms participation, he/she has to attend all the process that is applicable and conducted by the recruiting company, defaulting which the name of the student will be removed from the CDC track subsequently.
  • CDC strictly adheres to the notion of "One Student One offer Norm". Single offer is treated as "DEEMED ACCEPTED". Student has to give only ERP acceptance (MANDATORY).
  • In the case of multiple offers, a student can accept only one offer from a company.
  • Once an offer has been made, the student is not allowed to sit in any further process of CDC.
  • In case of any confusion, the case must be brought to the notice of any of the Placement Committee Members at the earliest.
Placement Policy

All the final year Undergraduate, Post Graduate students who have successfully completed their credits are eligible to be a part of the Campus recruitment programme. All efforts are made to place the concerned students in the best of organizations in India and abroad for summer training through Training and Placement section and various departmental supports.

Guidelines for the Eligible students

For the CDC opted students :
  • CDC strictly adheres to the One Student One offer Norm.
  • A student can accept only one offer from any Company. Sigle offer is treated as "DEEMED ACCEPTED". Student has to give only ERP acceptance (MANDATORY).
  • The student must convey his interest within 2 hrs, if he/she gets multiple offers. Student has to give ERP acceptance (MANDATORY) also.
  • Once an offer has been made, the student is not allowed to sit in any further process of CDC.
  • In case of any confusion, the case must be brought to the notice of any of the Placement Committee Members/ CDC office at the earliest.
Guidelines for participating in internship / Placement process 

Please find the guidelines for enrolling with Career Development Centre for either Internship or placement . All the students must abide by the terms and conditions mentioned below. Students found violating these guidelines will be de-registered from the Internship/Placement process.

1. Eligibility for Placement :
Internship Placement
3rd Yr. of 4Yr. B.Tech/B.S Probable degree recipients in the convocation of a particular year
4th Yr. of 5Yr. DD/MS MS/PhD students those who have submitted the synopsis.(Contact CDC for more details)

5th Yr of 6 Yr. M.Sc-M.Tech

1st Yr. of 2 Yr. M.Tech/ PG

2nd year of 3Yr. LLB

 

2. The Registration :
  • Keep necessary details ready to fill the profile (as shown in the Annexure - I)
  • One can build three different CVs by choosing desired items as per their choice. Once all the three CVs are built and frozen, no further changes can be made.
  • One can add/ modify additional information only during the re-registration process. (i.e. placement during Phase-II ( January – April ).
  • Only registered students will be able to take part in the further process. All other students will be treated as Not Interested/Off- Campus/ Non CDC track. We encourage such student to inform their placement status to CDC for records.
  • Mere registering will not be enough for consideration of your candidature in any organisation. For each Organisational requirement one has to apply separately.
3. Applying for an organisation :
  • After successful registration, candidate can view the companies for which he/she is eligible to apply.
  • Once a student applies to a company, he/she is agreeing to the terms and conditions mentioned for the corresponding company and will agree to take part in the complete process.
  • Any student not registering in Phase II will be treated as placed.
  • Once applied, a student can withdraw for a specific company only till the last date of CV submission for that Company.
  • Once the last date is over you will not be able to withdraw from the process.
4. Selection :
  • Sigle offer is to be treated as Deemed Accepted.Once a student is offered, he/she is out of the further CDC process.
  • If any student has multiple offers in a single day/slot, he/she has to choose one within the specific deadline.
  • In both the cases, student has to give ERP acceptance (MANDATORY).
  • A candidate once selected, will not be able to apply and take part in the further Internship/Placement process.
5. Some Important points :
  • It is advisable to attend the PPT for all eligible companies
  • It is mandatory to attend the PPTs for all the companies where a student has applied.
  • All the information pertaining to various procedures and updates will be published in your CDC access only.
  • No personal calls or emails will be made to keep you updated
  • The deadlines are strict and no request for any extension will be entertained under any circumstance.
  • No CV will be accepted through email or in person unless otherwise informed.
  • Any information mentioned by a candidate along with a documentary proof uploaded will be placed under "Certified Data" after due verification.
  • Any information either is not passed the verification or no documentary proof uploaded will be placed under "Not Certified Data".
  • Relevant data will be accessible to the company and hence in case of any misrepresented of information by a candidate, such candidate will be de-registered immediately and also would invite severe disciplinary action.
